What and Why butchery ?
Butchery is a photography artwork using still life (nature morte in French) to show dead animals becoming meat. Fascinating by flesh and blood the artist try to show the beauty and the horror of meat, following in that the paintings of Caravaggio. For this purpose, the artist, Loïc Jugue, uses a specific photographic technique named light painting, which allows him to reveal the material in a particular way, magnifying the flesh. Butchery is also an interrogation about our consumption system.
