Written by Laura Berry
My feet are pounding down the path
as fast as my fear will carry me.
I make excuses to leave rather than face
what is uncomfortable in front of me.
I have an off switch I flick if I can´t run,
I zone out and glaze over…it´s still running,
but I eject my body to my silent capsule.
My spirit´s leaving as fast as the gunning.
The bullets always catch up with me, i´m tired…
so tired. Eventually I stop and breathe.
I surrender and turn to face it,
I walk back to where it started and see,
the sun setting and the dawn rising.
And I experience it all, feet rooted.
All that´s in me is felt and aired,
a relief I am finally free.
I kick away my boots.

Thank you!
Thank you. Your words take me inside myself where I know that ‘running’ – and feel I can’t stop – and don’t want to stop – but know I need to stop! There, I know I will find that sweet place of peace!
