She went to school today,
her bag weighed heavy on
her small shoulders, she must
carry it alone.

as her friend said, she must

she is not allowed to play with her.
As her friend said, my Mummy
says you’re a freak, and
I’m not allowed to play with you,
you’re not a girl, you have a penis.
My Mummy says you’re a freak,
a mutated monkey with a bow,
you’re not a girl, you have a penis,
your body boughed, she gives the blow, chanting
a mutated monkey with a bow,
chants and chants and chants and others join in,
her shoulders bowed, she takes the blow, it’s
like cockroaches crawling over her skin.
They chant and chant and chant and others join in
yet, she’s drawn back up by strings, still
cockroaches crawl all over her skin, but
she holds her head high, tears tear at her eyes, yet
as if she’s drawn back up by strings, on
her small shoulders
she holds her head high; tears tear at her eyes, yet
she went to school today.
