We all have a part of ourselves that we don’t like, a part of us that we try to hide from society for fear of not being accepted, a part that we reject in ourselves. We see our shadow side in others, but it’s harder to see the dark side of our own heart. Jung called it the “shadow.” When we discover the dark side of ourselves, our mind tries to hide it in the darkest corners of our subconscious, as if it doesn’t exist. To face our shadow is to let more light in, and now more than ever the world needs this “journey to the self”.
I am a film photographer, based in St.Petersburg, and I graduated from the Russian Academy of Arts. One of the chief reasons why I prefer analog photography to digital photography is it's tactility. Ritualistic; you can feel and hear the mechanisms, be slowed down and be in the moment. I am interested in exploring a person's full range of feelings and emotions. Recently, I have developed a fascination for femininity and sensuality, inspiring and interlaced in my current projects.
