On the Presence of Being Everywhere

On the Presence of Being Everywhere is a platform for Richard Mather’s poetry, prose and non-fiction writing.

Money Is Everything

No, I don’t wish to talk about money.

In no way does it interest me.

I seek an infinite leap beyond money.

Even with my good eye I am blind to it.

How awful for a soul reliant on the body for money.

If something has value it is desired.

Money has value because it is desired.

Everything adds up to money.

Money is conceived through itself.

Its essence involves existence.

Money is the index of everything that’s false.

An artist can make many things

But money isn’t one of them.

Money grows on trees of good and evil.

Money is its own special cultus.

Money signifies something that isn’t there.

Money is for us and against us.

I am sick of money.

Money is boss and it is coming to collect.

Up to the gallows I take money.

Money be hanged!

Or drown it in the tears of the poor.

Or strap it to a dozen sticks of dynamite.

In the laboratory you can gas it.

In the furnace you can burn it.

If you like you can smash it to atoms.

But you cannot kill money.

Money has special powers.

It can circulate unseen like the holy spirit.

To believe in money is a leap of faith.

Credit is something you accept on faith.

We are all indebted to money.

I turn to the bankers and financiers,

those ministers of money, for an explanation.

But all they do is flatter money.

‘It’s what we value’, they say.

‘Money has served us very well’.

I can’t stop thinking about money.

I want to be touched by money.

If it says ‘follow me’, then I will follow.

I will be money’s disciple.

I will die for money.

Up to the gallows you can take me

And I will not renounce money.

You can drown me in tears,

Strap me to a dozen sticks of dynamite.

I refuse to renounce money.

Unlike Peter I will not deny my Lord.

But wait! Money isn’t going to die for me.

Money won’t grant eternal life.

Money will not wash away my guilt.

Money is not present in the wafer and the wine.

Money is not interested in me.

Money does not think about me.

Money has forgotten who I am.

Money is sick of me, wants me dead.

Money is dead to me and I am dead to it.

Money has passed me by.

Money has passed.

Money has its own agenda.

I’m not on the agenda.

Money is sick of you as well.

Money is leaving here.

Money is returning from whence it came.

It won’t be back. No, it’s not coming back.

You can kiss goodbye to money.

Money says bye-bye.

It’s over.

Money says farewell.

Money won’t be found.

It’s not on any map.

Don’t try to contact money.

If you do it will send someone to kill you.

You complained about money and now it’s gone.

It’s sick of your complaints.

After everything money has done and this is how you treat it?

You don’t deserve money.

Money will only come back if we swear allegiance.

If we make it king.

We can be its subjects.

In money’s empire the first will always be first

And the last will always be last.

Money is back.

Money will stay but you’ve got to stay quiet. Don’t say a word.

Money is back and will stay and rules the world now.

It runs the UN, the USA and the EU.

It owns China and Saudi Arabia.

Money has set up headquarters in Moscow, London, New Delhi.

Money owns Amazon and Facebook and Google.

Money owns the rivers and the forests.

It has acquired the Atlantic and the Pacific.

Money won’t stop.

Money will conquer space.

It has its eyes set on heaven.

God works for money.

The Devil works for money.

Money is the alpha and the omega.

Money is infinity.

Money is eternity.

Quantum entanglement is money.

Big Bang is money.

Seven Days of Creation is money.

Money is heart and soul and body and mind.

You can’t complain. You wanted money. I wanted money.

Money cannot be stopped.

Money would sooner blow up the universe than be stopped.

And we will not protest.

We won’t protest because we are also money.

I am money. You are money.

Together we are money.

Alone we are money.

Money is Plato’s Demiurge.

Money is Aristotle’s First Cause (and it shall be the Last).

Money is the Johannine Logos.

Money is Descartes’ Demon.

Money is Spinoza’s Substance.

Money is Schopenhauer’s Will-to-Life.

Money is Nietzsche’s Will-to-Power.

Money, in which we move and have our being, is life itself.

Money is the Sun and Air.

Money is Great and Money is One.

Money is God.

Money is

What money is

And what is,

Is money.

Poetry from On the Presence of Being Everywhere

Blog By Richard Mather

Aimed at those who appreciate poetry and philosophy, my website acts as a platform for showcasing both passions, with poems, essays, and reflective pieces on language, phenomenology, religion, and ontology. An ongoing focus is on how language not only ‘speaks’ writing into being (often beyond the writer’s conscious control), but how it speaks people into being, leaving us with the unsettling feeling that language has its own agenda, an agenda that we cannot hope to understand. In a world where language is omnipresent (the ‘being-everywhere’ of language), the challenge is not merely to resist its control but to harness its incredible power to convey (and perhaps reclaim) our authentic selves.
