I watch you
through the
study window
in our yard
taking on the
immutable forces
of nature as
though it’s
a trivial thing.
It’s not.
But that
doesn’t hold
you back.
I see you
harboring
fugitives,
choosing
winners
& losers
playing
God for
heaven’s
sake!
Of course,
it’s the
underdogs
you pick.
Always.
In a world of
eat & eaten,
strong & weak,
predator & prey,
you choose
prey.
