The Tower is not far away, she has not collapsed.
She still stands strong today.
A million flames cannot burn her, nor a thousand suns Incinerate
This sound of forever,
This breath of never,
This song of the minions,
The ice on the rose.
The Tower is not close, you cannot touch her with your hands.
She does not appear in brick and mortar,
Nor decked out in glass and stainless steel.
She is the note you cannot hear,
The one that circles round and round your ear.
She is the breath you did not make,
She is the place you never were.
(The tail of the circle knows this place,
So does the diamond’s void.)
A million armies will not find her,
Nor a thousand satellites orbiting beyond the moons.
Rain falls down
Rivers run around
Rocks run downhill
The Tower, she stands still.
(Breath of breath, breeze beyond breeze:
Fires burn bright with an incandescent blank light)
And still the Tower stands –
Eons pass and more.
(We are just a breath of fossils now upon the hardened sands)
And still the Tower rises, even higher than before.
And still the Tower dwindles, into the pale beyond the new.
