Written by Jacob Moses
Autumn, when I come alive
When flannel drapes me
Serves as chainmail
Against arctic air
One with the winding wind
I am the embodiment of
Queer quadrilaterals
Lumberjack longing for
Cocoa and s’mores
Humming back, belonging
Quid pro quo endures
For I am the one who offers
To the soul of the woods
Whether in the form of ash
Whether in the form of seeds
Whether in the form of metal
I am a man among the trees
Among the mud and swamps and
Rivers I’ve crossed often
But these squares keep me
Contained, I choose the
Right angles to cloak me
I make the left turns
As rain soaks me
Undress me to my core
Leave me nude in your
Everlasting voyeurism
Beyond these four walls
Aperture of the sun clicks
As the moon filters the noise
