In Sacro-profane, photographer Giuliana Mariniello presents a photo essay reflecting on the coexistence of the sacred and the profane in contemporary society. Collected over time and across various locations, the series examines the erosion of sacredness historically rooted in Western culture and its growing intersection with secularization, consumerism, and commodification. Through symbols and everyday scenes, the work documents how religious values, community, irony, and even kitsch coexist in modern life.
