Black and White Urban Moments (2019–2023) is a street photography series created in Japan, built entirely from candid and unposed moments. The project focuses on how light and shadow form shapes and patterns before a passerby enters the frame and alters the balance. Photographer Kantaya New, an Edge of Humanity Magazine contributor, describes street photography as a practice of waiting and embracing the unexpected. Working in monochrome, the series emphasizes timing, structure, and the human presence within ordinary urban spaces.
