YOU ask ME how I am.
I say “I’m okay”.
But do YOU ever stop and think that might not be the case?
Caught up in the minutiae of the day, you go about your business.
Later on, YOU receive a call.
I have passed away.
I took my own life because I could no longer take the angst of depression with no support to lean on.
I grew tired of having to pretend that I was okay.
And when tomorrow comes, YOU will ask someone else the same question,
without taking the time to see beyond the mask, they hide behind.
So don’t say, “How are you”?
Instead, ask, “Are you okay”?
People hide a lot, and often everything is not what it seems.
But if you look closely enough, you will see.
