ROND-POINT is an obsessive quest, a photographic inventory of France’s most esoteric and singular roundabouts. Sitting at the intersection of road planning and the sacred, these asphalt islands cease to be mere junctions and instead become everyday sanctuaries. Though designed to regulate the flow of machines, they harbor a modern folklore, a local mythology sculpted in concrete and steel. By documenting these circular monoliths, this series casts a solemn eye on our overlooked landscapes, transforming mundane infrastructure into a theater of the uncanny and territorial mysticism.
Romain Ruiz (b. 1994) is a French photographer based in Paris. His work moves between commissioned assignments and long-term authorial projects. Ruiz builds a personal photographic writing rooted in the observation of territories and collective imagination. Through his ongoing series France Fantasia, he explores the contemporary forms of French folklore—its rituals, symbols and narratives that persist or reappear in everyday life. Between documentary sensibility and a subtle taste for staging, his images reveal a poetic tension between the ordinary and the marvelous.
