Jillian Abir MacMaster’s Park Missionaries is a series of impromptu portraits of missionaries from the Church of the Latter Day Saints, also known as Mormons. The project began after missionaries approached MacMaster in public spaces, leading to conversations about Jesus Christ in exchange for their portraits. It developed into a more personal exploration of their experiences as missionaries. MacMaster, who was raised Catholic and is not a member of the religion, became interested in exploring different Christian denominations through portraiture, eventually approaching missionaries she encountered in public.
