The Life Coaching Series

 “He comes from nothing”

We all have heard this phrase multiple times and it is usually accompanied by the person’s achievements.

The same humble beginnings can have contrasting results in people’s lives.  Some strive to succeed at any cost, distancing themselves physically and emotionally from their past. Others will embrace the bounty life brought upon them by engaging themselves with their past, and work towards bringing others ‘from nothing’ to enjoy a better life.

The “I want nice things” frame of mind of the once less privileged can yield feelings of entitlement, which in itself weakens the individual as he/she can only process the “I Can”, “I Can”; and in life many times we want what we cannot have.

On the other hand, welcoming the “I come from nothing”  by using that experience as being something you obviously don’t want to go back to, but can endure if needed; will remove the dread of again falling into difficulties and allow that person to live a more fulfilling life, perhaps with not so nice things.

Neutrality comes with the price of being disconnected. Society is composed of like-minded people; teal lovers search for bluish-green connections, and the burnt sienna worshippers choose to navigate a path that’s deep reddish brown. Embracing the color wheel will yield richer exposure and isolation.
There is no glory in neutrality.
