Hermit Poet’s notes:

Thailand is the land of unlimited smiles and happy people. The destination is exotic and one of the top places for adults to visit, relax, and have fun. I have been to Thailand several times and your Thai Baht will go far. The food throughout the country is diverse, fresh, spicy, and inexpensive.

The street food is outstanding. The Thai people love to eat and socialize outdoors at individual food stands. Especially in Bangkok, it is relaxing to sit outside and eat fresh exotic food prepared expertly by the cook, while watching the fast paced crowds of people pass by.

Book Review:

Thai Street Food is a combination of recipe book and social documentary photography (see captions on page 364).  The intense images stimulate the senses and transport the reader to the streets of Thailand.  Take a deep breath and relax, because by the the time you reach the middle of the book, you may be able to smell what you see, especially if you have already traveled to the country.

The recipes are informative and well organized with one final product photograph that screams “I’m fresh”.  The content is divided into three main chapters highlighting daily meal times (morning, noon & night).  Inclusive is also food types such as noodles, rice followed by spices, desserts,  and snacks to name a few.

The hardcover version weighs six pounds. You will need a heavy duty book stand to have the book at your counter while you are cooking. Near the end, you will find nine pages introducing you to ingredients and general food preparation.
